An online auction of all the artworks left from my career so far. All the proceeds went to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
This project addresses the crisis in contemporary art that has accelerated over the past decade. It aims to highlight the shifting role of the market for contemporary art production, the role of the artwork in a world of diminishing resources, and the role of the artist in a world of fracturing relations. This project unsettles decades of assumed value in the contemporary art market. It shows that the value of the object as a commodity can be situated elsewhere, in a way that exploits its privilege and benefits communities in need. The auction’s success is a testament to its relevance and importance as a contemporary art project for our times.
