Louisa Bufardeci
Fugacità (1998/9)
Scrolling drawing, mirror, plant, viewing stand; dimensions variable
Produced for a curated exhibition of work by Australian women artists with an Italian background, Fugacità drew on a personal relationship between myself and my father's cousin, Lucilla Bufardeci. As a poet and avid collector of art, Lucilla proved to be an unexpected familial encounter on my first tour of my father's homeland. Fugacità is the title of the poem Lucilla dedicated to me, and the one that features in this installation. Its content reflects upon the fleetingness of memory, experience and life.
